For the second stop of Timmaron’s annual Asia tour, the team moved on to Taiwan. This island is smaller than Minnesota, but has 25 million people versus our 5 million. The country’s capital, Taipei, is the center of this region’s technology industry. It is often called “the Silicon Valley of Asia,” as the majority of parts for the high-tech industry are made here: memory, DRAM, mother boards, and much more. That makes it an engineer’s dream to visit! Timmaron CEO Barb Stinnett sent the following report:

We met with the leaders for healthcare at the OEM component manufacturer Advantech. It is a $9.9B company, very well organized, with major divisions for edge computing, power accelerators, and more.

Our hosts gave us a full walk-through tour. The company has a very impressive Solution Center on site, similar to the Timmaron Group Solution Center in Palo Alto. We were invited back in the spring to participate in the company’s Global Partner Summit, which had 7,000 partners attending last year.

Our main takeaway: Advantech is a very tightly run, high-quality, metric oriented company. Timmaron Group will partner with this company as an OEM or solution provider for all things healthcare where hardware, processing power, and, in some cases, custom architectures are required. Custom manufacturing is done at their manufacturing facility in Japan.

Here’s a more complete description of the company: Advantech is a Taiwan-based global technology company specializing in industrial computing, embedded systems, automation, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Founded in 1983, it provides rugged computers, edge-computing platforms, industrial PCs, sensors, networking products, and AI-enabled systems used in manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, energy, retail, and other industries. The company is particularly strong in industrial IoT and edge AI, helping organizations connect equipment, collect and analyze operational data, and automate processes. Advantech operates globally, serving equipment manufacturers, systems integrators, and enterprise customers.

We look forward to building a partnership with Advantech on projects for companies in size of $1 billion or more. The company is made for scale, and can move quickly on very large runs that need high-end, volume manufacturing.
