DOGE Cuts and Community Care: What Now?

As you have undoubtedly heard, cuts by the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are already being implemented.

Timmaron Group has been actively involved in Community Care programs for many years — primarily rural and tribal communities — so we’re very much aware that these cuts will affect such programs significantly. The three most concerning cuts we see are to food assistance programs, the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program, and cutting Institute of Education Sciences (IES) research contracts. The funding drought in IES contracts will threaten evaluation tools that address classroom success and policy planning.

Another big issue is that cuts to Medicaid will affect many state budgets. Those state budgets for 2026 will largely be locked in during August. Then the Federal government’s fiscal year ends September 30. So, there will be much activity over the next two months!

Timmaron Group is now helping communities understand these DOGE cuts, and developing plans to help them deal with the attendant issues. If you are affected, we can help! Contact us at hi@timmarongroup.com.
